I'll be out on Monday and Tuesday this week. Vickie will be here in my absence. I am attending a technical assistance conference associated with the new magnet grant in Washington D.C.
It is extremely important that you put all request for work absence, i.e., conference, pd, personal days, in writing in as far of advance as possible. It is very likely a request turned in day before will be denied. We are unable to get substitutes in many of these instances.
Any staff who can help out with supervision at Wednesday's football game will be greatly appreciated. We play Maple St. and if we are going to have any problems this game would be when we might have them.
We have a pep assembly scheduled for Wednesday. Students must be Tier 1 and have a legitimate ID. Please discuss this on team and develop a 7th hour plan for those students who will not be able to attend. Directions must be given explicitly to students ahead of time, or we'll be sorting it out during the assembly.
6th grade retesting of section 1a of the MEAP test will be done on Wednesday, November 7 - first thing that morning. We'll give more direction as we get it.

All grades should have been entered by the start of school Monday. Report Cards will be generated and available to students and their parents at Parent/Teacher Conferences. Parents who do not attend will have their report cards mailed home.
Thursday's evenings conferences are at Mt. Zion Church. Click for directions. There will be a dinner served at 5:00 so staff are able to eat with our families.
For everyone's general information, we recorded 550 unexcused tardy marks last week, and had a average daily attendance rate of 86.8%. Students will start over with a clean slate as a new marking period begins Monday. We are however in a better position to track this information and follow up with it in a timely manner going into this marking period.
Please let students know that the school store will be closed this week. Ms. Lang is out of town and will not be here to over see the operation of the store.
The week of October 22, is spirit week. I have spoke with some of the students in the advisory leadership about this week and will continue with 7th and 6th grader in advisory leadership. We will hold a friendly competition among teams for participation in spirit week activities.
We'll have a pep assembly on Wednesday, Oct. 24 as part of spirit week, during 7th period. You can remind all students that they would need Tier 1 status and a legitimate school ID to attend this event.
There is a flu shot clinic in the building on Thursday. There usually is a fee (approximately $20) for the shot.
I had a proposal to adjust the schedule on MEAP testing days to shorter periods but a complete daily schedule. I'll talk to team leaders on Monday and let you know what our plan is. Stay the course or make a change.
A reminder that we have to stay on top of MEAP make-ups, this is a team responsibility. all materials are due into Diane by October 24.
