8:00, 8th Grade Trip to Michigan Adventure
This will be the last week for after school programming. Communicate to students that homework hubs and all after school programs will end this Thursday. Marla is planning a district-wide after school event for Wednesday, June 9. There will be a large number of students from other school coming here for this activity which will run until 8:00.
Maggie will be sending out information on end of year procedures and issue to help make the last week of school as smooth as possible. Some things like locker clean out will be handled on team
Our plan is to finalize as much of the leadership information as possible for next year at our final staff meeting on June 7.
On Wednesday Mark Hill and Craing LeSuer will meet with students from Milwood who are identified for summer school. Steve will put out a list of names of the students who must attend. There are two components to summer school, remediation and extension. The students in remediation have failed their classes for the most part and the students identified for extension are grade level students who are being considered for advanced placement if they put in extra work this summer. I believe that many students do not know they are on these lists, so it is important that 6th hour teachers review the lists and see that the students come to the cafeteria when we call for them.
We will be making decisions on summer programming probably at the end of this week. Some of the extension programming we are offering to 6th and 7th graders has low enrollment. We will have to cut these programs if enrollment doesn't pick up. The program with incoming 5th graders has very healthy numbers.
We still have a fire drill to complete this week to reach our required numbers.
We will pay out on the planner challenge this week on Wednesday and Thursday. Mary will be in the cafeteria to provide students with their incentive and to let them enter the planner raffle. We had discussed Social Studies teachers helping with this, but have decided to just keep in the cafeteria at lunch. Please remind students to bring their planners to lunch on Wednesday and Thursday.
Vickie is helping get things in order for our 8th grade farewell, I know she was needed the information on all the students being nominated for recognition. If you haven't done this yet please get on the master list that was passed around.
