Ruth's mother passed away this weekend and she will be out all week with funeral arrangements and family. If you need a substitute please do not call her, instead call me at my home this week, 343-7911.

Monday afternoon the consulting group heading up the superintendent search will visit Milwood to talk with staff about the process and the qualities that are important in our new superintendent. This is one of the best opportunities you'll get to interact with this decision process. We'll meet in room 415, any staff are welcome to attend.

We have much work ahead of us in the school improvement planning process. Diane is meeting with department heads this Tuesday, after school to discuss the curriculum considerations that must be included in our school improvement document.

Thursday we will do recognition of the students who have been responsible about getting to class on time. Maria has been planning for the event, a trip to the see, "Bridge to Terabithia" at the Kalamazoo 10. Students will have to pick up their permission form in the cafeteria on Tuesday or Wednesday from Maria. The list were posted in the building and all teachers should get a copy of the list. It was generated from the classroom attendance records.

Thursday the advanced Spanish class and the Yearbook class will be on a field trip to Chicago. Ms. Kidman will circulate a list of the students who will be on this trip as they will be gone all day.

Tuesday, Life Touch will be here to take group photos for the yearbook. We will have to do interruptions in classes. Mrs. Corstange circulated a tentative schedule of when we will need to pull groups. Please don't send any kids until we call over the PA.

Jessica Johnston will be in a long term assignment for Wendy. She begins on Monday and interned last semester at Edison, she is certified in science. Please welcome her to Milwood.

Mr. Cedena sent out an e-mail to teachers regarding the school play. Please read it in your advisory classes on Monday. It is the last call for auditions.

I have scheduled a meeting to begin the conversation about the Math/Science Academy with team representatives this Thursday. I would like a representative from each team and the special education department to be present for this conversation. We are going to plan for a fall implementation and this will be done in our building. It will have school wide implications for our continued restructuring.

Rick and Helen our state evaluators will be here on Tuesday, February 27, to continue the evaluation for this year. They have randomly asked to interview certain staff members. Ruth will provide a schedule for affected staff members. They are continuing to use the process they used in the past.
