No Students --- Professional Development 8:00-3:00 at Milwood
We will have building PD this week on Friday. Our topics of focus will be student-led conferencing and MEAP. We'll start at 8:00 in room 415, with a continental breakfast, lunch will be on your own.
Rick and Helen our magnet consultants will be here on Monday and Tuesday doing curriculum support work and visiting classrooms to see instruction.
We will run a short video on the morning announcements to acknowledge Constitution Day, which all schools are to observe in some fashion.
An informational item on the alarm if you are a weekend user --- the alarm is now a silent alarm, which means when you enter there is no longer an audible beeping when you come in. The alarm is still active and must be disarmed with the pass code, it just won't do the beeping thing.
Hall sweeping will begin on Monday. Teachers need only to mark students tardy who report to class after the bell rings. Building mentors will handle the sweeping process and will document a swept student and return them to class. We will not sit them out the entire class period and we do not want teacher locking students out of class. Team leaders can see Mr. Stovall or myself if there are questions regarding the process.
Julie Jenkins is still looking for help with her skateboard club. See her if you can help out on Wednesday afternoon.
Teachers share and remind students that the Milwood Book Bags will not hold large loads. We had a number of them fail after being loaded with books.
The Kalamazoo Gazette is an instructional resource that is available to all teachers. The flyer in your mail box outlines how to order class sets on designated days.
A reminder that newsletter article are due in Atiba the 3rd Friday of the month. This will be a standard practice. The 19th is the 3rd Friday in September. This will allow our newsletters to get out the the 1st of each month.
