MEAP update --- As of last week we have not tested a high enough percentage of our students to make the AYP standard, 95%. We will have make-up testing on Monday - Math and Wednesday - ELA I. Tamela will have some specific directions as a result of last week's process.

We are scheduled for building PD this Wednesday. We will meet in room 415 as a staff to debrief on student-led conferences and the majority of the time will be dedicated to team meetings so concepts from our leadership team can be shared and more fully and discussed with each grade level or elective team.

We have a few fire alarms to get in before the weather turns, just an FYI.

Our articles for the November Newsletter are due in to Atiba. We are trying to get on a time line so that newsletters are out by the 1st of each month.

I have two meetings scheduled for 8th graders who received an F on their report card. I'll meet with 8B students at 12:40 and 8A students at 1:40 on October 29th. This will be the first time retention information will be outlined to them.

Our leadership meeting scheduled for this week on Thursday has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 29. This change was made so that we could receive information on CHAMPS which would serve as a training on classroom management. Any staff are welcome to attend this dinner meeting with the leadership team, let Maggie know in advance if you'd like to attend and would like a dinner.

Work will begin this week on external lighting improvements around the parking lot and black top. This means that there may be some equipment operation going on during school hours.

The district has scheduled professional development for all secondary teacher on Tuesday, November 4, at CEC. The district is bringing in an ASCD trainer to do Understanding by Design with the whole district since it will be the model by which all curriculum work will be accomplished.
